Eastwood Observatory

Approaching Eastwood Observatory along a narrow windy lane, with the last signs of civilisation a couple of miles behind you, you’d be forgiven for suspecting you’d taken a wrong turn. It isn’t until you venture along the drive, following a discreet, slightly scruffy sign on the ground, that you are immediately transported to somewhere extraordinary. Principally designed by the renowned Robert Adam, this majestic Anglo-Baroque masterpiece was inspired by the Royal Greenwich Observatory. Set amid park-like grounds and surrounded by nothing but the gentle hum of the Sussex countryside, Eastwood Observatory instantly captures the imagination. It’s a distinctive and unique location of exceptional scale, and I cannot wait to see the stories that unfold here.
